Music Analysis - Hall of Fame - Nathalia Rodrigues

Hall of Fame – The Script ft. Will.i.am

The song is considered pop rock. It was written and co-produced by the Script. It was release in 2012 and is the lead single from their Third Studio album. The track features Will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas.
The lyrics in this song are very important and stronge because it is about following dreams and making an impact on the world.
“You can be the greatest”, “You can be the best”, “You can be a master”, “dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself”, “ the world’s gonna know your name”, “ You’ll be on the walls of fame” these phrases emphasize the meaning of the song. In an interview with Danny, Mark and Glen, band members, to “Palco Principal”, Mark said we are in a television culture, where anyone can be famous for trivial things and this is a danger to our culture. The objective of this song is to break this criterion to be famous for insignificant things. The message in the song is to do important things and achieve our goals. Mark also highlights that this song was made to inspire common people and not athletes who already have a goal in mind, Mark believes that this song can inspire common people more than athletes, because the athletes usually have big dreams and big plans.
Seeing this, we can understand the song context, which is concerned for our culture and society. it seems we are in this “television culture” as Mark said, but I complement saying that nowadays the internet culture is stronger than television culture and because of that it appears the alienation.
Considering the instrumental part of the song, it is easy to see the motivational character both in the lyrics and in the melody because the melody is active and accelerated. The two together help to strengthen the song message.
